University Grants Commission (UGC) : The University Grants Commission (UGC) recently issued rules for foreign universities to set up campuses in the country. After this, now a fresh notification has been issued by the UGC, which states that no foreign higher educational institution will be able to offer any program in India without the prior approval of the Commission.

HEIs shall not offer programs under any franchise arrangement and such programs shall not be recognized by the UGC. For detailed information in this regard, candidates can read the information on the official website www.ugc.gov.in.

 

UGC Warned

In its issued notice, UGC also said that it has also come to notice that some EdTech companies in collaboration with some foreign universities/institutions are advertising in newspapers/social media/television etc. offering degree and diploma programs in online mode. I am giving.

Such franchise arrangement is not permitted and any such programme/degree will not be recognized by the UGC.

Action will be taken against all edtech companies committing fraud.

Apart from this, UGC has asked students and public to be aware in this regard.

At least ten universities from across the world have registered with the Foreign Higher Education Institutions (FHEIs) portal after the UGC recently issued rules allowing foreign universities to set up and operate their campuses in India.
