There was a clash between pro-government MPs and opposition members on Sunday over the approval of four members in President Muizzu’s cabinet. This incident came to light a day after that.
Lawmakers from the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Democrats decided to block the approval of four members to the President’s Cabinet before the vote. After this, pro-government MPs from the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNAC) started creating ruckus and disrupted the parliamentary meeting.
An MDP MP said his party had collected enough signatures to file an impeachment motion with the Democrats. However, these signatures have not been presented yet.
