Jharkhand’s daughter Purnima Mahato has been awarded the Padma Shri award. He has been given this award for playing the role of a coach in the sport of archery. It is noteworthy that the Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day. Family, relatives and area residents expressed happiness when he received the award.

Purnama Mahato, who won the Padma Shri award, said, I cannot believe that I have received this award, it is no less than a fantasy. He said that I have Dronacharya Award and now I have been awarded Padmashree. It was a proud day for me.
Archer turned coach Mahato is a former national champion. She has worked as the coach of India’s archery team. She told that she has personally trained Summer Olympian Deepika Kumari in 2012.
Mahato is recognized for his hard work and dedication. She has also been awarded the Dronacharya Award in 2013. Mahato is among the seven players who have been awarded the Padma Shri.
