British journalist Mark Urban wrote, ‘Among the emerging great powers, it is remarkable to see how India has emerged from the crisis in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

 

The world is praising India for the timely help provided by the Indian Navy to the merchant ships that were victims of attacks in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea. Many defense experts and scholars called India a ‘super power’ for this.

 

 

After the success of this new mission, European researcher and historian Martin Saubery wrote, ‘Now India has taken things into its own hands. A superpower is rising… We should stop looking towards China with the expectation of help. Defense analyst Damien Simmons has also analyzed India’s contribution to the mission.

Summary Mission: India is continuously helping

  • On 14 December 2023, India helped in the pirate attack on the merchant ship Ruin in the central Arabian Sea.
  • On 23 December 2023, there was a drone attack on Chem Pluto near Oman in the Arabian Sea, here also India came to help.
  • We provided help after the merchant ship Leela was hijacked on January 4.
  • On January 17, India rescued the crew members after the Houthi terrorists’ drone attack on the American ship Genco in the Gulf of Aden.
  • Immediate action was taken to rescue the merchant ship Luanda when it was attacked in the Gulf of Aden on 26 January.

 

The Navy said the fire aboard Marlin Luanda has been brought under control. Following the request for help, 10 sailors and special fire fighting equipment from INS were dispatched on the morning of 27 January.
