Tier 1, the first phase of the selection process for recruitment to the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) under Grade 2 posts, was conducted by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday, January 17 and Thursday, 18 To be done in January 2024.

The Bureau had already issued the exam city slip and then the admit card of the exam city allotted to the candidates who applied to appear in the Tier 1 examination (IB ACIO Exam 2024), which the candidates can download from the official website, mha.gov. IB ACIO Exam 2024: Important instructions for Tier 1 exam
- Apart from this, the Intelligence Bureau has also issued necessary examination instructions for the candidates going to appear in the Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Tier 1 exam, following which will be mandatory for all the candidates: –
- No traveling allowance will be given to the candidates for appearing in the examination. However, the traveling fare for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be reimbursed later.
- Candidates should report at the allotted examination center at least 1 hour before the start time of their shift.
- There will be a ban on mobile or any other electronic item in the premises and room of the examination centre. Nor will any arrangement be made by the Center to keep them.
- If mobile or any other electronic item is found with any candidate, it will be considered as unfair means, even if it is switched off.
- Also, there will be no arrangement to keep expensive/valuable items (like jewellery, etc.) safe at the exam centre. In such a situation, candidates should not go wearing these.
- Candidates must carry the original copy of their photo ID proof along with the IB ACIO Admit Card.
- Based on the performance in Tier 1, candidates 10 times he number of declared vacancies will be shortlisted to appear in the next stage Tier 2.
- The cut-off for candidates belonging to unreserved categories has been kept at 35, for OBC at 34, for SC/ST at 33 and for EWS at 35. As per the merit list prepared, only those candidates who obtain at least this number of marks 10 times will be shortlisted for Tier 2.

IB ACIO Exam 2024: Exam will be of 1 hour, negative marking of 0.25 marks
- As per the Assistant Central Intelligence Officer notification released by the Intelligence Bureau, the duration of Tier 1 exam will be 1 hour.
- In this, a total of 100 multiple choice nature questions will be asked from various prescribed subjects.
- There will be 1 mark for each question and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- The subjects from which questions will be asked include Current Affairs, General Studies, Numerical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Aptitude and English Language.
